Privacy What this site keeps, and what it doesn’t.

I’m Mikael Pretorius, and I trade as Elevate, a sole proprietor in Stellenbosch, South Africa. I’m responsible for the personal information this site handles, and I’m its information officer under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and a message. If you send an estimate, what you chose goes into that message. I use it to reply to you, and if we work together, for that work. Nothing else.

The form hands your message to Resend, a service that delivers it to my inbox. The site itself keeps no copy. If the form can’t send, your own email app opens instead, and the message goes from your account.

A few small things are kept in your browser’s own storage, on your device, and are never sent to me: the estimate you were working on (so you can pick it up later), whether you chose the light or dark look, and which of the scenes’ hints you have already seen. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

To learn which pages are useful, visits may be counted with Umami: which pages are read, how far down, which buttons are pressed, and how far people get through the estimate. It uses no cookies and collects nothing that identifies you, and its data is kept in the European Union.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which, like any host, handles the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address) to deliver the site and protect it. Vercel and Resend are based in the United States, so what passes through them may be processed outside South Africa.

Links to book a call (Cal.com), to WhatsApp, LinkedIn, GitHub and Instagram take you to those services, and their own privacy terms apply there.

I keep your messages for as long as we are talking or working together, and delete them when you ask, unless the law requires me to keep something, such as an invoice.

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, or object to how it is used: email me and I’ll reply within 24 hours.
